Any one of these, verified against the real chart rather than assumed, can cancel the dosha even when the raw house placement (1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th from the Ascendant or from the Moon) is present.
Is the "4th house in Cancer, 8th house in Aries" rule reliable?
This is a popular claim that circulates widely online, but it does not trace back to a classical source we can corroborate, so it is not something to rely on for cancellation. Whether a Manglik placement is cancelled depends on the specific sign, degree, dignity, and aspects on Mars in an actual chart, not on a general rule tied to two zodiac signs. Treat a blanket rule like this with caution, whichever direction it points.
If the dosha is cancelled, is there anything else worth checking?
Cancellation of Manglik dosha resolves one factor in a compatibility review, not the whole picture. A full guna milan or kundli matching still looks at the remaining Ashtakoot factors, since a cancelled Manglik dosha inside an otherwise strong match is a different situation from a cancelled Manglik dosha alongside a weak Nadi or Bhakoot score. The two checks are related, but they are not the same question, and both matter to a complete read of the match.
Why does this need an actual chart rather than a rule of thumb?
